Burleson County
Burleson County is part of the 16th largest metropolitan area in Texas – the College Station-Bryan metropolitan statistical area. Compared to Brazos County, which occupies a smaller chunk of the region but has a much larger population, Burleson County is relatively small. It is home to just over 17,200 people (as of 2014 estimates) spread out on a total area of 677 sq. mi. It’s big enough to have access to shopping, dining, and other entertainment options, while still small enough to have that hometown feel.
The major highways that bisect Burleson County are State Highways 21 and 36. Its adjacent counties are Robertson to the north, Washington to the southeast, Lee to the southwest, Milam to the northwest, and Brazos to the northeast. Since 1970, Burleson has seen a population increase each year, with its biggest population surge so far during the 1980-2000 period.
There are 20 individual communities that are located with Burleson’s boundaries, but the most populated communities are Snook, Lyons, Somerville, and Caldwell, which is the county seat.
