- The Troubadour Festival: A Texas BBQ & Music Experience May 20, 2023 • Aggie Park at Texas A&M University What can be more Texan than a festival that combines music and BBQ? The Troubadour Festival does just that, with eight musical performers and guest stars, along with what organizers are calling “34 of the best BBQ joints in Texas.” The festival begins at noon, when barbecues can be sampled until the concert begins at 4 p.m. There are three ticket options: Troubadour VIP (which has been sold out), BBQ + Music, and Troubadour Music only, with a special price for students. - The Starlight Music Series May 13, May 27, and June 10, 2023 • Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater Gates open at 6 p.m. Performances start at 7 p.m. Free and family-friendly, the Starlight Music Series has been held under the stars for more than 20 years. Over the course of five Saturdays, College Station’s Parks & Recreation Department is hosting this year’s event at the Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater along 1015 Colgate Drive. An exciting assortment of artists have been lined up, including outstanding performers of country, classic rock, Tejano, and zydeco. Check out the schedule here. - Holistic Health Days June 4, July 2, August. 6, 2023 • Lick Creek Park 9 a.m.-12 noon Here’s an easy way to improve your physical and mental health: save the dates above so you can check out the holistic health booths at Lick Creek Park. Take care of your body, mind, and spirit. Join the 45-minute yoga session. Witness and partake in Dharma and Sheng Zhen meditation demonstrations. Or take a relaxing walk amid nature. The event is free and open to all ages.
- Basketball Skills Competition June 11, 2023 • Lincoln Recreation Center 2 p.m. How good are you at free throws and three-pointers? If you’re 16 and up, here’s your chance to show ’em what you’ve got – and have fun in the process. It’s your time to shine so join now!
- Let Freedom Ring: Oral History Documentary Night June 15, 2023. • Lincoln Recreation Center 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Watch a screening of the documentary, “Our Independence Day: Celebrating the Black Founding Families of College Station.” Discover their legacy and learn about the streets named in their honor and the neighborhoods they thrived in. Entrance is free for all ages. Food trucks will be around for snacks and refreshments.
- Juneteenth Freedom Walk and Storytelling June 16, 2023 • Lincoln Recreation Center – George Bush Presidential Library and Museum 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This year, College Station is celebrating Juneteenth with a 2.2-mile walk from the Lincoln Recreation Center to the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum. The event commemorates the end of slavery on June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers landed in Galveston, TX to announce the end of the war and that the enslaved were free. The storytelling is scheduled after the walk.
- Father’s Day Cookout June 16, 2023. • Lincoln Recreation Center 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Here’s a hamburger and hotdog cookout for dads who are encouraged to dress for the occasion in their favorite jeans, boots, and cowboy hats. Free entrance for all ages.
- Christmas in the Park Date TBA • Stephen C. Beachy Central Park 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. until January 1, 2024 An annual tradition that began in 1984 when a local family set up a few light panels, Christmas in the Park has grown to feature over one million lights! In the past, the annual event featured a 90-foot Christmas tree wrapped in 14,400 lightbulbs and a North Pole mailbox where kids could drop off their letters to Santa.
