Lone Hen Winery

The Lone Hen Winery prides itself on its homemade style to vinification.

Steve and Vicki Kirkpatrick planted their vines back in the early 2000s. Around 2009, they opened their vineyard’s gates to the public. Eschewing mass production methods, the owners of Lone Hen Winery emphasize bespoke craftsmanship when creating their distinct wine selections.

Arts Council of the Brazos Valley
4180 Hwy 6 South, College Station, TX
979.696.2787

As the hub of arts and culture in Brazos Valley, The Arts Council, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is one of the best places to get to know the character of College Station and its surrounding communities.

There are a couple of art galleries that are open to the public. Visitors can marvel at the works of hundreds of local and regional artists in a two-tier mezzanine gallery and an outdoor venue where more works are displayed.

There are also a number of meeting and creative areas that can serve as spaces for lively interaction. In addition, there are three working studios that local artists frequent.

Museum of the American G.I.
19124 Highway 6 South, College Station, TX
979.690.0501
info(at)americangimuseum(dotted)org

The Museum of the American G.I. maintains a unique collection of old military paraphernalia dating as far back to World War I. History buffs and hobbyists in particular will feel right at home here.

What’s most impressive about the museum is that many of the artifacts it carefully maintains are still functional to some degree. This is one of the rare places where you can still see combat vehicles like the WWI-FT 17 Tank and WWII M18 Hellcat. You can even hear their old engines roar to life.

You’ll also find an assortment of mostly 20th century military uniforms, posters, and propaganda.

Luigi’s Patio Ristorante
3975 Texas 6 Frontage Rd #100, College Station, TX
979.693.2742
info(at)luigispatioristorante(dotted)com

Luigi’s is a local favorite for a good reason. It’s one of the very few establishments in the city that offer an authentic Italian cuisine experience. As one can expect from heartfelt Italian cooking, each dish is simple yet flavorful — from Luigi’s Chicken to the Rosemary Tortellini. Vegetarian options are also available.

The restaurant encapsulates everything that Duilio Tani learned from and loved about his father, Luigi, who inspired him to take up culinary arts.

Blue Baker
800 University Dr E #100, College Station, TX
979.268.3096

Some of the best bread in town are the ones that Blue Baker makes. Using unbleached and unbromated flour and relying mostly on time-honored techniques, this craft bakery produces great-tasting and healthy breads.

Blue Baker is also a pizzeria. Doughs are masterfully prepared by hand and subjected to stone oven heat. Blue Baker also offers catering services for events and special occasions. Additionally, you can find multiple locations throughout the city. There’s also a branch along 201 Dominik Drive and 4500 Mills Park Circle.
